Ayahuasca: A Journey of Consciousness and Perception

Let's talk briefly about ayahuasca medicine because, to really get to know it, you need to try it.

Ayahuasca is a psychoactive entheogenic drink produced by boiling two plants: the vine Banisteriopsis caapi (mariri or jagube) and the leaves of the shrub Psychotria viridis (queen or chacrona).

Ayahuasca, from the Quechua aya, meaning 'dead, deceased, spirit', and waska, 'vine', can be translated as “vine of the dead” or “vine of the spirit”. This drink is also known as hoasca, daime, iagê, santo-daime, wine of the soul, and vegetal.

It is important to emphasize that Ayahuasca is not a drug, and its use definitely does not cause any kind of dependency. Research has proven that it has no harmful effects on the body; on the contrary, its medicinal or therapeutic use is increasingly proven.

Ayahuasca acts directly on the central nervous system, elevating all the senses to a level of extreme awareness. The individual can clearly experience a broadening of perception and access to subconscious psychic levels, among other perceptions of reality, while being totally aware of what is happening (hyper lucidity), a state of presence in the now.

Mental processes and emotions can be experienced more intensely, and relaxation music leads the individual to a state of deep meditation, a direct encounter with their inner (or divine) self, and an expansion of consciousness. In this state of expanded consciousness, one can experience various experiences such as remarkable visions (miração), insights, examination of consciousness where the individual is placed as a spectator of their actions, self-healing, and direct access to memory, which can lead to visions of past events, among many other beneficial sensations of renewal and rebirth.

It's also important to emphasize here that ayahuasca medicine doesn't work miracles in anyone's life. The freedom to make the changes it proposes will always be respected.

Remember that the medicines are for everyone, but not everyone is for the medicine, so above all, respect yourself, and even if this medicine isn't for you, respect the force that dwells within it.
